Nesba Adjective النَّسَب .

Nesba adjective is the adjective from the noun . We use it to say the nationality

With nesba adjective , add (yy) to masculine , yyah (for feminine ) and (yeen) with plural

Note: **If the noun ends with long vowel ا , و , ي , drop it before adding the suffix.

For example:

To ask a question for how much , we simply use بِكام bikaam

1-How much is the book? بِكام الكِتاب؟ bikaam elkitaab?

The book is with 10 pounds الكِتاب بعَشَرة جنية elkitaab biashara geneah

Bi ب is( with). So بِعشرة جنية biashara geneh means (with 10 pounds)

2-How much is the ticket? بِكام التذْكَرة bikaam ettazkarah?

The ticket is with 5 pounds التذكرة بِخمسة جنية ettazkarah bi khamsah geneah

3-How much is the pen? بِكام القلم bikaam elalam ?

The pen is with 4 pounds القلم بأربَعة جنية elalam biarbaah geneah

4-How much is the Pepsi? بِكام البيبسي bikaam elpepsi ?

The Pepsi is with 6 pounds البيبسي بستَّة جنية elpepsi bisittah geneah

5-How much is the bottle of water ? بِكام ازازة الميَّة bikaam ezazet elmayah

The bottle of water is with 3 pounds ازازة المية بتلاتة جِنيه ezazet elmayah bitalatah geneah

FusHa ( Arabic letters from Alef to Zaien ( أ:ز)

The Alphabet الحُروف الهجائِيَّة

Some of my students asked me to write some short lesson for FusHa as well as Egyptian Arabic. Actually I am not familiar with using blogs . I am completely new with using blogs. So forgive me if it appears with Egyptian Arabic. And help me if you can (how to use this post under Modern Standard Arabic page) shokran

Now ,I am going to write some short lessons

I am going to start with the Alphabet

Arabic language has 28 letters , they are connected to each other except 6 letters , They can be connected from right side only.

Those letters are ا – د – ذ- ر- ز – و

Arabic language is written from right to left.

Let’s start with the letters ا – ب – ت – ث

Alef is connected only from the right side

It is pronounced as the letter A

Example : أحمَد Ahmed

Baa can be joined from both sides

It is pronounced as the letter B

Example: بَاب baab , door

Taa is also joined from both sides

It is pronounced as letter T

Example: تاج taag crown

Thaa is the same like baa , and taa but with 3 dots

Now , If you want to join ب and ا , it will be با

ب – ا- ب – ا it will be بابا it means dad baba

أ – ب it will be أب it mean a father up

ب – ا – ب it will be باب it means a door baab

now , how can you join the following?

ت – ا – ب

ت – ب – ا

ا – ث- ب

ث – ب – ا – ت

Hello Again, Now lets continiue learning letters from ج toخ (Geem to Khaa )


Geem is pronounced as the letter G , it is joined from both side

Exampl: جَمَل Gamal , a camel

ح , no equivalent for ح , but it can be more similar with (H)

Example: حِصان horse Hisan

خ It is pronounced as (Kh)

Example : Khan خان Khabaaz خَبَّاز bakery

Now, letters from daal د to ز zeen

Daal is the the second letter that is not joined from left side

Daal د It is pronounced as the letter D

Example: دَجاجة Dagaga a chicken

Zaal , is the third letter that is not joined from left side . It is pronounced as (th) in the word (the). the tongue should be between the teeh and go a little outside the mouth

Example: ذَيل tail, zail

Raa , is the fourth letter that is not joined from left side .
It is pronounced as (R)

Example: رَجُل ragul a man

Zaien , is the fifth letter that is not joined from the left side. It is
pronounced as (z)

Example: زَرافة zarafa

Where are you from?

Where are you from? انتَ مِنين enta menaen?

Enta (you, singular masculine )

Enti (you, singular feminine)

So , when you ask a male , use (enta) انتَ

And when you ask a female , use (enti ) انتي

*Where are you from? enta menaen ? انتَ مِنين؟

This feminine ending is used with a noun or an adjective to make it feminine

Note:

There is no helping verbs with Arabic language.

There is no (it) , so hwwa and hayya are used for (it)

Example:

I am a teacher. انا مُدَرِّس ana modarres

He is a teacher . هو مُدَرِّس hwwa modarres

She is a teacher. هيَّ مُدَرِّسة hayya modarresah

You are a teacher. أنتَ مُدَرِّس enta modarres

You are a teacher (f ). انتي مُدَرِّسة enti modarresa

You are teachers . انتو مُدَرِّسين entu modarreseen

They are teachers . هُمَّ مُدرسين homma modarreseen

We are teacher . احنا مُدَرِّسين ehna modarreseen

What’s your name?

What’s your name ? اسْمَك ايه؟ esmak eah?

(esmak eah ) is used when you ask a male, we use the suffix (ak)

For example:

-esmak eah? اسْمَك ايه؟ What’s your name?

esmi Ahmed اسْمي أجْمَد my name is Ahmed

-esmak eah? اسْمَك ايه؟ What’s your name?

esmi John اسْمي جون my name is John

What’s your name ? اسْمِك ايه؟ esmik eah?

(esmik eah ) is used when you ask a female , we use the suffix (ik)

For example:

esmik eah ? اسمِك ايه؟ what’s your name? (f)

esmi Suzan اسْمي سوزان My name is Suzan

esmik eah? اسْمِك ايه what’s your name?

esmi Sara اسْمي سارة My name is Sara
